Ukraine ended 2015 with a positive trade balance

The positive balance of Ukraine’s foreign trade in goods in 2015 amounted to $ 632.5 million, while in 2014 it was negative at $ 527 million, the State Statistics Service said on Monday.

According to his data, last year exports of goods decreased compared to 2014 by 29.3% – to $ 38.135 billion, imports – by 31.1% to $ 37.502 billion.

Gosstat clarifies that in 2015, foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 217 countries.

The commodity structure of Ukrainian exports was based on base metals and articles thereof – 24.8%, vegetable products – 20.9%, mechanical and electrical machines – 10.3%, fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin – 8.7%, mineral products – 8.1%, finished food products – 6.5% and products of chemical and related industries – 5.6%.

The share of mineral products accounted for 31.2% of the value of imports, mechanical and electrical machinery – 16.7%, chemical products and related industries – 13.3%, polymeric materials, plastics and their products – 7 , 1%, base metals and articles thereof – 5.3%, land vehicles, aircraft, watercraft – 4.7%, finished food products – 4.3%.

Exports of goods to EU countries amounted to $ 13.018 billion, or 34.1% of total exports, and decreased compared to 2014 by 23.4%.

The goods were exported to Russia (12.7%), Turkey (7.3%), China (6.3%), Egypt (5.5%), Italy (5.2%), Poland (5.2%) , India (3.8%) and Germany (3.5%).

Exports to Russia fell by 50.7% – to $ 4.83 billion, and imports – by 41.1% to $ 7.485 billion, the negative trade balance of goods amounted to $ 2.655 billion.

Imports of goods from EU countries amounted to $ 15.344 billion, or 40.9% of the total, and decreased compared to 2014 by 27.2%.

Imports of goods from Russia amounted to 20.0%, Germany – 10.4%, China – 10.1%, Belarus – 6.5%, Poland – 6.2%, Hungary – 4.1% and the United States – 3 .9%.
